Ethics and Freedom of the Press - Nicole Wagner

Ethics and Freedom of the Press
Journalists should have the freedom to inform people about the truth. They should be able to tell a story using the facts, and still be able to respect the people or the subject that they are writing about. If journalists weren't able to share with people the truth about a story, then people would be given a false story that they would then believe when they heard or read it. This would remove more misunderstandings and any stories that are untrue. Journalism freedom was violated in 1978 abroad when their own country was ready to jail them for anyone who showed any conflict. I think that the the Canadian press has a lot of freedom because they can say anything they want, as long as it is true and appropriate. I think that in a community the press is free to say anything as long as it is respectful and an accurate story. I think that a school would have more freedom to say what they want because if they are trying to raise an issue on something, the only way to fix it is to say what you think.
